ICAN of Los Angeles is a chapter of the International Cesarean Awareness Network, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC). We aim to provide local birthing people with resources and support and offer them a safe space to process birth experiences and plan for future births. Maggie Pulley and Sarah Longhenry are two of the co-chairs of the chapter. Maggie Pulley is an educator and mom of 3. As a result of her own birth journeys, she became very well versed in all things birth and grew passionate about helping others achieve beautiful, empowered births. Sarah Longhenry is a mom of 4 who cherishes time and space created for processing birth stories with local people.
